Goals of the PhD course

The primary objective of the Doctorate is to train young researchers in the fields of Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Computational Sciences, and to create professional figures who can find opportunities in the scientific research sector, both university and non-university, as well as in industry.

It is expected that the doctoral students will acquire skills such that they are able to:

  • carry out independent research that produces internationally valid and/or technologically transferable scientific results;
  • carry out coordination activities with other experts on research/development projects with both strictly mathematical and computational themes in multiple disciplinary fields;
  • carry out coordination activities of small research and development teams in both academic and business contexts;
  • carry out scientific communication activities at an international level of projects and results;carry out critical evaluation of results and scientific literature in at least one sector of specialization.

The path is finalized with the drafting of a doctoral thesis with original research content and high standards.
