Admission to the PhD Course
To access the PhD in Mathematics and Computational Sciences, it is necessary to have an Italian Laurea Specialistica o Magistrale, or equivalent.
Foreign students must have a Master's Degree.
A good basic preparation in Mathematics and/or Computer Science is essential for the access to the PhD course.
Admission is ruled by a public call usually published in June.
Verification procedures for admission to the next year
During the first year, PhD students choose the PhD courses among those offered, taking into account the curriculum and the topics of their research project; PhD students can also choose courses in national or international Schools (e.g. CIME, CISM, Summer School of Mathematical Physics, etc.). Each PhD student is assigned by the Teaching Board a supervisor and/or one or more co-supervisors.
The admission of PhD students to the next year will be assessed by the Teaching Board on the basis of a detailed report, approved by the supervisor, on the set of activities, and a public seminar illustrating the study and research activity.
